Lacunda del Cardinale restaurant, Assisi
Based in an ancient Etruscan cellar, dating back to 75BC, this fantastic restaurant presented the architect Luciana Koonya with some unique problems. She used the old domus area and designed a fusion of ancient sculpture and modern art.
But the interaction of the dome and the adjacent arch caused a very unusual acoustic phenomenon. The sound practically disappeared inside the niche but resonated everywhere else. After considerable thought we perfected an ideal solution.
We constructed two chandeliers out of small pieces of Murano glass. The sound source was one platinum Omni placed in centre of the dome.
